Desen
Wan, M.D. Professor, Director of the Department of Abdominal
oncology, Chief of WHO Cancer Research Collaborating Center, Member
of Executive Committee of Chinese Anticancer Association.
Dr. Wan received his M.D. from Sun Yat-Sen
University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) in 1965. Since then he has
been working in the fields of patient care, cancer prevention,
cancer research and medical education in Cancer Center,
SUMS. Dr. Wan was selected as a "Young scientist
with outstanding contribution” by the MPH in 1986.
Sponsored by WHO scholarship, Dr. Wan took part in the
training project for oncologists in USA in 1989,
majoring in research and management of gastrointestinal
tumors. He was promoted to be professor in 1991 and
doctorate supervisor in 1997. He is a
former director of our Cancer Center. His interests are in cancer
screening in community, early diagnosis and
treatment of colorectal cancer, and prevention of liver
metastasis of large bowel cancer. There are six ongoing projects
under the charge of Dr. Wan supported by various grants.
