Background:
Dr. Rong received
his M.D. from Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences (SUMS) in
1970. From 1991 to 1992, he took his advanced studies at the
chest hospital of Berlin, Germany. He is a postgraduate supervisor
in our Cancer Center, vice director of executive committee of
Guangdong branch, Chinese Medical Society. Dr. Rong is an
accomplished expert on clinical research of esophag us
carcinoma and has accumulated abundant clinical experiences on
surgical and combined therapy for esophagus carcinoma, implementing
esophageal stapler, mediastinal lymph nodes cleaning,
bronchoplasty, and excision of mediastinal tumor. In recent
years, he has performed total esophagectomy and
esophagopharynostomy for upper or cervical esophageal carcinoma,
esophagectomy with lymphnodes cleaning in
cervical, thoracic and abdominal region.
Another focus of his research is the therapy of pulmonary
carcinoma .He modified the traditional mediastinal lymph nodes
cleaning procedures, which has been proved to
improve radical effects with decreased complication occurrence.
Additionally, he also developed complex pulmonary lobectomy,
mediastinal lymph nodes cleaning and partial left artriectomy in
order to expand the indication and excision rate of the
pulmonary carcinoma. There are six ongoing
projects under the charge of Dr. Rong supported by
various grants: Study on prevention and control of
cancer in Yuexiu Section in Guangzhou; modification of
surgical method of lymph node cleaning in patients with
left non-small cell lung carcinoma; research on
ombined treatment for lung carcinoma; optimized therapy
for esophageal carcinom of advanced stage; study on enlarging
the operative indications for lung cancer; implementing LAK
cell as a palliative therapy for post-operative lung cancer.
